"Taking away a livelihood"
I cut my own hair, and my son's hair. Luckily I do it in the privacy of my own home. Iowa firemen have been ordered to stop barbering on duty because their "taking away a livelihood from professionals who are trying to make a living". (From The Corner)

Do the local restaurants know the firefighters cook food while on duty too?!?!

I think the big fear is that they would get called to put out a fire at a hair salon, and they'll just let it burn down.
