Hybrid Diapers

So every time you are pregnant you look around at the new baby goods. Now there are gDiapers. They have a cloth outer shell with a biodegradable, flushable liner. The shell is $14.99 each. If you buy 160 liners in the small size (and if you are going to really use them you should probably buy them in that size lots) you get a 10% discount. So they are $52.00 just for the refills. This is not a route I am going but an option for all of you earth minded people out there!

  • Great idea, fine product but a 10% discount... come on! They should give at least 15% if not more for people who are willing to buy so much. Thanks for telling us about this product, it is worth a look (but they should make a better effort for the discount).

  • It is a great idea, but cost wise not so much. it is amazing how much companies charge for things.

  • I do cloth because I am a tightwad! I can't imagine this. I want to SAVE money, not keep buying liners. I'd get sick of it and buy disposables. I'm a BumGenius! diaper lover!
I found you through the wfmw posts.
My whole family are nerds, and my kids decided I am a nerd too. We even named our dog after a video game character.

  • Very cool idea. Too bad it's (almost) too late for us when it comes to the diaper years...

  • I'm a Mom so impressed by this product that I got in touch with them to ask how I could get the word out. I used disposables with my 4 yr old, but really wanted something 'greener' with my son and found gDiapers by happenchance. They are inexpensive compared to disposables and more convenient than cloth. Because they decompose much faster than a regular diaper, I can throw them out in a biodegradeable nappy bag when I am out and about and still feel confident that I'm doing the earth a favour. Fantastic product and it looks super-cute too!

  • Just so you know: just because things are "biodegradable" doesn't always guarantee that they will biodegrade. Biodegradation needs oxygen, and a "biodegradable" plastic bag (up for another debate) and biodegradable inserts will not break down if it is under tons and tons of waste because oxygen can not reach those materials.

Please keep this in mind, and recycle or reuse things whenever possible. Diapers are in a league of their own, though!!! :) Go all cloth if you can.
