Tithe Rap

This is great! Hilarity and a lesson. I think Pastor Pat should arrange something like this next time he preaches on money;).

Do I have a life? At 98 I assume not.

They say if you've seen over 85 films (or 85 of these particular films, anyway,) you have no life. Mark the ones you've seen. There are 239 films on this list. Copy this list, go to your own facebook account, paste this as a note. I will declare that if you have seen at least half of it and then stopped it because it stunk counts!

MTV and Fox Dance Show Crossover

I love dance shows. I know that comes as a shock due to the fact that I am uncoordinated, overweight and out of shape but love them. I watch everything from ballet to ball room (and I mean real ballroom, not just Dancing with the Stars) to the pop dance shows. I am one of those people who can't do but can critique;).

So I just found out today that America's Best Dance Crew had started its new season so I tivo'ed it. Imagine my surprise when I saw the Quest Crew. They have 2 members who were very memorable on So You Think You Can Dance, Hok and Dominic. The crew itself has even danced on So You Think You Can Dance. Of course their crew rocked it!

So any of you who loved Dominic and Hok go watch America's Best Dance Crew!

I Think Someone is Hinting

NerdDad sent me a piece talking about how great the Dr. Horrible DVD is. So you think someone might be hinting for Valentine's Day? It is only $10.50 so I may just have to get it for me (I mean him;). If you missed Dr. Horrible or haven't heard of him, get out from under the internet rock. Dr. Horrible was hilarious and I definitely want to see it again! Joss Whedon is a genius with Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion are so funny!

Frustration

When you blog you have to be conscious of the feelings of those you write about but sometimes there is no winning. Sometimes the line between "their business" and you life seems to be very blurred and hard to discern. This is what happened to me back in June of this year. I wrote a little piece about my NerdPie and how she saw the marriage situation with my parents (many parents). Well, my mom thinks I told everyone that she wasn't married when I was born (which wasn't the case, my mom and dad were married). Well, I don't think that I left everyone with that impression. I thought I had made it clear that they were married but it wasn't really the focus of my story. But here is a couple of pieces of the post:
I don't know how many of you know but I have 3 dads. My mom has been married 3 times so like many others of my generation this leads to many parents;).

and
But when I tell her my parents were married, she says they couldn't be because they aren't married to each other;).

I apologized to her but she said that I was sharing her business (so just imagine how happy she will be with this post). Well, while I see the point I think that it is my business too. I wasn't focusing on her but on the issues I have to deal with concerning my family and my kids. And frankly it was a cute story (and that was the point;). I wasn't commenting on the right or wrongness of the situation but I mentioned it to set up the hilarity of the moment.

I guess I find it very frustrating because this is my life story now. Yes, other people framed it and defined it but now it is mine. This is where I came from and it defines various components of me. Where do those in our past loose their claim to our present? (BTW, I wasn't rude or disrespectful of the situation, just stating how it is).

The New Doctor

So my friend Sue and I were heart broken when we found out that David Tennant was leaving Doctor Who. Well, the new Doctor has been announced. It is 26 year old Matt Smith. I watched the extended interview and he just seems so young. I loved Tennant but I also really liked previous Doctor also. I am afraid Smith is just missing something maybe a certain gravitas. But in his mannerisms I do see the beginnings of the Doctor in him. So what do you all think?

What the Heck!!!

I guess Obama really is the press savy President. So press savy that he is employing the press in odd positions. At least the is what I thought when I heard the announcement of Dr. Sanjay Gupta as Surgeon General. For those of you not familiar with Dr. Gupta he is a corespondent and commentator on CNN. But that didn't bother me as much as Leon Panetta for the head of the CIA. Panetta was in the House from Monterey, CA and was Bill Clinton's chief of staff. Did you notice there was not 1 mention of intellegience work (and possibly no intelligence in his work, but that is a separate issue)? I asked NerdDad what stopped me from being the head of the CIA and he said I couldn't because I never helped Bill Clinton hide dead bodies in the trunk of my car. If I would have known that was all it took;).

Recognize the Palestinian State!

Yeah, you read right. If the US, Israel, and the UN recognize the Palestinian state it changes all the rules. When Hamas wants to bomb Israel in the name of the Palestinian state then Israel just declares war. Does that mean that civilians can get hurt? Yes, that is what happens when you declare (or commit acts of) war on a neighbor. That is something we Americans don't think about because we haven't had a war on our soil since the Civil War. But it is the cost of war and if the Palestinians didn't want to play that game they should have behaved. Other countries have learned that lesson. Just ask Egypt.
