Schwarzenegger Says Californians are Poorer Than Previously Thought, Must Take More Money
So California finally got a budget after forever but then they underestimated the taxes the state would take in. That is because everyone has less money and is spending less money. So to make up for it The Governator wants to enact a 1.5 cent tax hike. Yea, that sounds right. People are broke so let us make them broker.

Yeah, that's good reasoning, isn't it? Anybody who can get out of California probably should.

Actually, if the state government is going to be raising taxes (which looks almost certain will happen), the fairest way to do so IMHO is by raising the sales tax. Everyone pays that, while not everyone pays the car registration tax (the most recent proposal I've heard for increasing revenue). Why should only those families who own a vehicle bear the entire pain of higher taxes?
Everyone in the state benefits directly or indirectly in some way, shape, or form from government services so the pain of higher taxes should be spread as widely as possible.
